Remote Support Software ("RSS"), designed and manufactured by Compuquest, Inc., is a productivity tool to assist you in getting the most from our AlphaSense AFN and legacy AlphaSense or PBXaminer product lines. (Both these products are standalone microprocessor-based units that provide unattended monitoring of either external sensors, or a data stream from host equipment. PBXaminer is optimized for PBX and other Telephony equipment, while AlphaSense is ideal for all other applications. When user-specified conditions are met, these products create and deliver messages to user-specified destinations, such as pagers, PCS, GSM and other mobile phones, PDA's, laptops, and other wireless and fixed devices).
RSS eliminates the need to use other software for programming and setup of legacy products, and also provides a means of receiving, logging, and tracking all messages delivered by one or more remote AlphaSense or PBXaminer units. In addition, the incoming messages can be transformed into email that is forwarded to your chosen recipient.
Here are descriptions of how RSS works and what it can do for you...
Remote Support Software operates in two major modes:
In Host Mode, RSS serves as another destination to which you can direct your AlphaSense AFN, or legacy AlphaSense / PBXaminer alarms and messages. Tip: Remember, the legacy units deliver to a Primary and Secondary destinations. Use the Primary for sending to your desired wireless device, and set the Secondary to send to the computer that is running RSS software. Incoming messages are automatically displayed, with the most recent shown on top and separately. A received message history window is maintained on the same screen. The user may also enable several other choices, such as to have RSS software running in the background, to Pop-Up when incoming messages arrive, or to play a Sound File on special messages, etc.
The received messages have been timestamped by AFN, AlphaSense or PBXaminer at time of delivery. This timestamp is maintained by the RSS software to become a permanent part of the received message. This provides several benefits, such as an audit trail of message delivery. Received messages may be stored to a history file for later viewing, or external database manipulation and reporting.
EMail Forwarding allows for the re-sending of all, or selected, incoming messages as an email message. This provides an additional method of notification, and links the legacy AlphaSense or PBXaminer to the internet as a message delivery medium. The current AlphaSense AFN products deliver emails directly, byt RSS can provide additional email forwarding.
Here is a screen shot of Host Mode for RSS software. It shows the most recently received message displayed prominently in the top half of the screen, along with the timestamp for that message. In the bottom area, a history of received messages are displayed, with the oldest message at the bottom.
And a screen shot of the Setup window, where Site Name and Access Number information is stored, communication parameters, startup options set, and settings entered for email message forwarding.
